Passport Program Faculty Support Information

This file consists of eleven downloadable digital documents that have proved tremendously helpful to instructors or faculty members of students challenged with intellectual or learning disabilities. Five of the documents include an introduction and four modules specifically designed and students diagnosed in the autism spectrum.  The information provides an overview of differing cognitive, behavioral, and affective features of unique learners with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s syndrome and discusses the implications of these differences for delivery of educational programs. Topics in the modules include a history of diagnosis for high-functioning autism and Asperger’s syndrome, how unique learners with each neurotype present in the classroom and what each needs to develop academic and social capabilities, why diagnosticians and educators are confused about similarities and differences between these neurotypes, and an overview of teaching strategies appropriate for each type.  Extensive references are also included with this set of modules. The information was designed and developed by our consulting team member, George Lynn, MA, MPA, LMHC.
Other documents in the file include excellent faculty resources on learning styles and brain research that are helpful in the classroom, gradebook  templates for both content skill sets and universal assessment areas, and two midterm report notice templates.
