Passport Program Assessment Information

ReThink Higher Ed® developed an alternative assessment system in order to accurately and reliably measure student progress and performance over time and thus better prepare the students for the workplace. It is designed so that throughout each term or semester, the faculty and administration work as an integrated collaborative team to both create and implement this system.
There are 13 skill sets by which students are measured. Within each skill set are corresponding performance indicators, or specific content area skills, mapped to the workforce. There are over 125 potential performance indicators for these 13 skill sets. The Passport curriculum and the system for assessment of students is based on the U.S. Secretary of Labor’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS). The SCANS list was developed as a guide for educators who want to help students prepare for the workforce.
Consists of 17 downloadable digital files, including the a PowerPoint presentation on the Passport assessment system, the performance indicators for all skills, 13 examples of student assessment across the three domains of academics, social/life skills, and workforce development, and two gradebook examples for the universal skills and the content skills.
